Hi everyone, Mom on Timeout readers! I’m Ashley, and I am so incredibly excited to be guest-posting for Trish today. While she’s off enjoying a well-deserved vacation with her family (get some sun for me, Trish – I’m currently huddled under blankets, sipping hot cocoa as I type this!), I’m here to share a recipe that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Getting to know Trish in person last summer in Austin was truly a pleasure; she’s one of the sweetest, kindest, and most genuine people I’ve had the opportunity to meet. Beyond her amazing personality, she’s also an incredible cook!

Seriously, her recipes are phenomenal. Just look at these: her Slow Cooker Philly Cheesesteaks are absolutely on my menu plan this week! And I’m constantly drooling over her Muy Bueno Slow Cooker Carnitas (Mexican food is my absolute favorite, so these are a must-try!) and her incredible Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls. Pure heaven!
The Secret to Effortless White Chocolate Cherry Fudge
When Trish asked me to share a fudge recipe with you all today, I had to let you in on a little secret: candy-making, especially recipes that demand a thermometer and precise temperatures, isn’t exactly my forte. I prefer recipes that are straightforward, quick, and deliver fantastic results without a lot of fuss. That’s precisely why I’m bringing you a fudge recipe that takes about 10 minutes to prepare and only requires the microwave. Yes, you read that right – microwave fudge that’s wonderfully rich and creamy! This recipe is truly a game-changer for anyone who loves homemade fudge but shies away from complex candy-making techniques.
What makes this particular fudge so special, besides its incredible ease? It incorporates instant pudding mix! This “secret ingredient” is key to achieving an extraordinarily soft, light, and almost airy texture. While it doesn’t magically reduce the calorie count, it certainly elevates the flavor profile, giving the fudge an extra punch of deliciousness and an irresistible creaminess you won’t find in traditional fudge recipes. You can certainly make this white chocolate fudge without the cherries, but I find that the bright, vibrant red of the cherries creates a stunning contrast against the pristine white squares. It’s an effortlessly elegant way to dress up this dessert, making it perfect for holiday gatherings, special occasions, or just a beautiful presentation for your everyday treat.
After all, don’t all delightful desserts deserve a beautiful cherry on top?

White Chocolate Cherry Fudge
This White Chocolate Cherry Fudge is an incredibly easy, no-fail dessert that’s sure to impress everyone!
Ingredients
- 8 oz white chocolate (divided)
- 1/2 cup butter (divided)
- 1/3 cup water
- 6.8 oz instant white chocolate pudding mix (2 3.4 oz packages)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 21 oz cherry pie filling (1 can – optional but highly recommended)
Instructions
-
Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil, ensuring the foil extends over the sides of the pan. This will create “handles” to easily lift the fudge out later.
-
In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine half (4 ounces) of the white chocolate, 6 tablespoons of the butter, and 1/3 cup of water. Microwave on high power for approximately 2 minutes, or until the butter is completely melted. Remove from microwave, stir well until the chocolate is smooth and fully incorporated. Then, add the dry instant pudding mix and stir thoroughly until no lumps remain and the mixture is well combined.
-
Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, stirring vigorously after each addition. The mixture will become quite thick. For best results and a smooth consistency, I recommend using a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, or a very sturdy spoon and a strong arm! Mix until the fudge base is completely smooth and all the powdered sugar is incorporated. Spread this mixture evenly into your prepared 8×8 inch pan.
-
In a separate small microwave-safe bowl, microwave the remaining white chocolate (4 ounces) and 2 tablespoons of butter for about 1 ½ minutes, or until the butter is melted. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy. Carefully spread this melted chocolate mixture over the pudding fudge layer in the pan.
-
Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill until the fudge is firm, which usually takes about 2 hours. Once firm, use the foil overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Slice into squares. Before serving, top with cherry pie filling if desired – the vibrant red of the cherries adds a beautiful finishing touch and an extra burst of flavor.

Tips for Perfect Fudge Every Time
- Quality Ingredients: While this recipe is forgiving, using good quality white chocolate will make a noticeable difference in flavor.
- Microwave Safely: Always use a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave chocolate and butter in short intervals (30 seconds) and stir between each to prevent burning.
- Smooth Mixture: Sifting your powdered sugar before adding it can help prevent lumps, ensuring an extra smooth fudge.
- Even Spreading: Once the fudge is in the pan, use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it evenly for uniform squares.
- Cutting: For clean cuts, use a sharp, warm knife. You can run it under hot water and wipe it dry between slices.
Creative Variations for Your White Chocolate Fudge
This easy white chocolate fudge recipe is incredibly versatile! While the cherry pairing is a classic for a reason, feel free to experiment with other additions:
- Citrus Burst: Add a tablespoon of lemon or orange zest to the white chocolate layer for a bright, fresh flavor.
- Nutty Crunch: Fold in chopped pistachios, macadamia nuts, or almonds for added texture and a rich, nutty taste.
- Berry Bliss: Instead of cherry pie filling, try a raspberry or strawberry reduction for a different fruity twist.
- Tropical Escape: Incorporate shredded coconut and a hint of pineapple extract for an exotic touch.
- Spiced Delight: A pinch of cinnamon or cardamom can add warmth, especially delightful during the cooler months.
Serving and Storage Suggestions
This White Chocolate Cherry Fudge is perfect for gifting, holiday dessert platters, or simply enjoying as a delightful snack. Cut into small squares for easy portioning. Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If refrigerated, allow it to come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before serving for the best texture.
