Cosmetic Grade Clay

When mixed with water, this incredible element creates an electrical charge that draws bacteria, pollutants, and chemicals from the skin’s surface. These antibacterial properties can minimize inflammation, avoid potential acne outbreaks, alleviate redness and skin infections, assist in the battle against allergic reactions to unpleasant or harmful products, and hasten scar or wound healing.

Clay, on the other hand, infuses your skin with rich and essential minerals that improve body enzyme development, preventing or helping to treat skin rashes, acne, and eczema (symptoms that can often be a sign of enzyme deficiency).

White Cosmetic Clay, Bentonite Clay, and French Green Clay are the three most popular and inexpensive clays on the market. Both of them are effective; the only difference is your skin type and sensitivity:

White Cosmetic Clay (also known as White Kaolin Clay):

Is suitable for dry, sensitive, or regular skin. This is a light-colored, very fine clay with natural absorption properties. It cleans and gently exfoliates the skin while also simulating circulation. This is the mildest and most widely used clay, despite the fact that it absorbs soil and contaminants from the skin’s surface. It does not absorb oils from the skin, making it suitable for sensitive or dry skin. Once or twice a week is recommended.

Bentonite Clay:

Bentonite clay is a fine grey/cream colored clay with a high absorption power. It cleans and exfoliates gently while still simulating circulation. Because of its electrical charge, it is suitable for removing bacteria, excess oil, and toxins from the skin. It’s also known for its therapeutic qualities. Once a week is recommended.

French Green Clay:

Is a decent alternative for oily skin. This is a fine light green clay with outstanding absorption properties and a micro molecular constitution, making it suitable for detoxification and mineral infusion.

Good for removing toxins, dust, dead skin cells, excess oil, and other impurities, as well as reducing and eliminating free radicals (atoms that can kill cells and are thought to accelerate aging). Its toning action promotes circulation and speeds up scar healing by delivering fresh blood to skin cells. Once a week or as a spot healing procedure is recommended.

Ground Coffee

In addition to being delicious, when it comes into contact with the skin, this ingredient has three major skin-enhancing properties: For instance, caffeine is a natural anti-inflammatory, so you’ll note a difference in the tightness of your skin. Second, since it is rich in antioxidants, it can help to prevent premature skin aging. Third, since it is an exfoliator, hope to eliminate dead skin cells and increase blood circulation.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-septic properties, making it suitable for skin cleaning. Although apple cider vinegar has few side effects in most situations, it is best to test it on a small area first. If it isn’t filtered, it can cause skin irritation in people with extra-sensitive skin.

If your skin is susceptible to ACV, dilute it with sterile water first (before absolutely removing it). For sensitive skin, use 2 parts water to 1 part ACV, or 3 parts water to 1 part ACV for extra-sensitive skin.

If you find ACV to be too distracting, you can absolutely replace it with distilled water or rose water. Rose water also has wonderful properties that are particularly helpful to people with sensitive skin. It can be used to soothe and cool irritation, infuse vitamins and antioxidants, moisturize, and tone the skin.

Tea Tree Oil (Optional)

Coffee Mud Face Mask

We know we only said three ingredients, but if you want to give your skin a boost, particularly if you have acne-prone skin or want to heal scars, this essential oil will work wonders. Consider it a personalization. Tea tree oil has antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.

Ingredients are as follows:

  1. 2 tsp Cosmetic Grade Clay: We used French Green Clay, but you can use White Kaolin, Bentonite, or your preferred clay depending on your skin type and the recommendations above.
  2. 1 tsp Coffee Grounds (recently brewed coffee grounds can be recycled )
  3. 1 to 1 1/2 tsp *Apple Cider Vinegar: Dilute or replace with Rose Water / distilled water depending on your skin type or allergy and the recommendations above.
  4. Tea Tree Oil (optional) or your favorite essential oil, 2–3 drops

Instructions:

  1. Combine the ingredients with a plastic or wooden spoon. This will avoid the active clay from drawing metals ahead of time, enabling it to preserve its maximum absorbency.
  2. In a small glass or plastic tub, whisk together the dry ingredients until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Mix in the apple cider vinegar and essential oil (if using) until a paste forms. If the paste is too thick, thin it out with a little more apple cider vinegar until it reaches the perfect consistency.
  4. Add the mask to your face or desired region with your fingertips. Enable 5–15 minutes for the mask to harden before removing it (but before it starts to overly dry and crack or flake). When the mask is moist, the skin is detoxified and filled with the clay’s minerals; as it begins to harden, the blood flow increases as the mask contracts; but, if the mask becomes too dry, it can dehydrate or irritate your skin. See why this mask will work wonders in just a few minutes a week?
  5. Scrub softly with warm water in a circular motion.
  6. Apply moisturizer after patting dry with a clean towel. Yeah, indeed! You already applied toner! (Apple cider vinegar or rose water work well here)
  7. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen as well.

Since this recipe only makes enough for 1–2 applications, hold any remaining mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days. If the mixture dries out, you can apply a little more ACV on your next application.
