Who is Emma Chamberlain ?
Seriously, if you’re familiar with the top YouTube stars, you’ve undoubtedly heard of Emma Chamberlain.
The 18-year-old began her channel in 2017, and her account quickly propelled the girl to the top of social media influencers.
So, what exactly is Emma’s secret?
Even the young celebrity is baffled as to why people are so interested in the California native’s life.
Our best hypothesis is that it has something to do with Emma’s sincerity.
Unlike many vloggers, Emma was unconcerned about giving viewers unfavorable perspectives of herself or disclosing her pimples.
Instead, she embraced what society could consider “flaws” and ran with it… all the way to the bank!
Emma now has a slew of brand partnerships under her belt, including a lucrative contract with Louis Vuitton, her own coffee line, and more.
However, becoming popular on the internet has its downsides.
The YouTuber spoke up about her difficulties with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan.
Emma Chamberlain discusses her battle with an eating disorder.
Let’s be honest: it’s tempting to compare ourselves to the Photoshopped picture-perfect photographs we see on social media these days.
Emma is also hyper-aware of her physique as a result of her YouTube fame.
The YouTuber previously said that the adolescent struggled with body dysmorphia as a result of all-night video editing sessions.
I’ve never been a healthy weight, and I’ve believed I was fat several times.
It’s terrible, she told Cosmopolitan magazine.
My entire family told me I looked dreadful. They said, ” You appear to be dying.” I said to myself, “I believe I look terrific.”
Aside from experiencing periods of anxiousness when editing her videos, the influencer noted that residing in Los Angeles adds additional strain.
She described the situation as a “bloodbath.” If you live in Los Angeles, being overweight is typical. That is, without a doubt, a mindf—k.
While many vloggers have business relationships with weight-loss beverages, candies, and so on, the vlogger indicated that she will not write about it on her platform.
Not criticizing people who chose to promote certain things, she stated, “Your grind is your grind, and I’m not going to get in your way.”
I just believe that growing up on social media caused me to have eating disorders as a child.
“I literally have fought with that my entire life,” she concluded. Almost everyone I’ve met has had an eating disorder of some kind. I mean, I’ve been through… I don’t want to offend anyone, yet there are so many.”
Since then, Emma’s brand appears to be geared at overcoming the stigma associated with curated material on social media.
And a big part of it is not using photo editing software on her photos. “I refuse to do it because nobody needs to believe I look like that,” she explained.
“I look the way I look,” he adds. Yes, lady!
While social media continues to promote tailored material, we’re thankful for the chosen few, like Emma, who bring us back down to earth with a carefree attitude.
